BORROW THINGS - SHARE THINGS

SAVE MONEY

When we buy things we only use once or twice a year, the cost is high, both in a personal and environmental sense. We can save money, and benefit the planet by borrowing items from Exeter Library of Things.

VOLUNTEER

Giving something back to your community feels good and benefits you and your surrounding neighbourhood. You get to meet new people who share the same interests.

SHARE

If you've got things, and are happy to share them with others, why not donate an item or two, to help Exeter Library of Things grow? You will be able to use your item, and so will others.

LIVE SUSTAINABLY

The planet is in crisis. Reducing our demand for things is part of a path we need to tread if we are to move towards living within our planet's limited resources.

COLLABORATE

We love networking with other likeminded organisations - we hope to get together with other not-for-profit community groups and work together for the benefit of all.

CONNECT

One of the most important parts of any venture, is it's connection to it's users. As we come out of the pandemic, we want to connect with our neighbours more, and share things as well as ourselves.

the why

Exeter Library of Things is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. Our aim is to reduce consumption, encourage community engagement and create sustainable living habits, all the while helping members cut down on costs and free up space.

The idea is to set-up the Library of Things with a wide range of items available for the general public to borrow including power tools, hand tools, household and leisure items.

It’s hoped that, by sharing the things we use only now and then, we can help people to save money, connect people to the local community and increase awareness around consumerism and waste.

We will also offer opportunities to local residents to volunteer and help run the project.

Alongside running the Library we intend to develop collaborative projects with other local community groups.
