Volunteering

Volunteering with Exeter Library of Things could be for you, being part of a growing CIC for a few hours a month is hands-on, sociable and genuinely useful.

Share a drill, lend a hand

ELoT runs on people who care and can commit to a few hours on a Saturday; you too could join us as a volunteer librarian.

Full training is given. Unfortunately, the library is not wheelchair accessible at present, but we still need help with social media, email and events, from home if that suits you better.

What you could do

  • Fix and test

Check, clean and repair returned kit so it’s ready for the next person.

  • Welcome our members

Greet them, check items in and out, and help with bookings and queries.

  • Spread the word

Help with social media, email and events.

What it looks like

The commitment

  • Saturdays, 10am until 2pm
  • One 4-hour shift or two 2-hour shifts per month
  • No experience needed

What you get back

  • A fun & lively environment where no two shifts are the same.
  • If working from home, we’ll provide support and feedback in a way that works for us both.
  • Practical experience in repair, admin or communications.
  • Real satisfaction.

What you get back

Good company, new skills, and the quiet satisfaction of keeping a genuinely useful thing alive for your city. No experience needed; just turn up willing.
