Volunteering with Exeter Library of Things is a rewarding way to contribute to a growing community interest company.
Lend a hand, not just a drill
ELoT runs on people who turn up because they care. Our volunteers stock the shelves, test and repair the kit, welcome borrowers, and keep the whole thing moving. If you’ve got a few hours and want to be part of something genuinely useful, we’d love to hear from you. We seek to reduce consumption, encourage community engagement and create sustainable living habits, all the while helping members cut down on costs and free up space.
As a volunteer librarian, you would be greeting customers and using the digital system to check items in and out, manage booking and help with memberships. Full training is given.
We would love to hear from you if you could offer some time to be part of this growing community.
We welcome librarians of all types, ages, demographics and so on – unfortunately, though the library is not wheelchair accessible at present. Opening hours are Saturday from 10am til 2pm and you can volunteer either 1 x 4-hour shift or 2 x 2hr shifts
What volunteers can do
- Welcoming members in Sidwell St and helping them find what they need
- Checking, cleaning and repairing returned items
- Keeping the catalogue and admin ticking over
- Helping with marketing, events and outreach at
- Remote support on our social media or to help with a bit of email marketing.
